

Tom Morrison
Vice President for Facilities
Tom Morrison was appointed Vice President for Facilities effective June 1, 2025. In this role, Morrison leads Duke University’s planning, design, construction and renewal; engineering, utilities and energy; buildings and landscape; housekeeping; sanitization and recycling; and administrative functions and oversees the ongoing safety, integrity, value and sustainability of Duke's world-class facilities.
Prior to joining Duke, Morrison served for 16 years in the inaugural role of Vice President for Capital Planning and Facilities at Indiana University where he served as the university’s Chief Facilities Officer and acted as the primary liaison to the Indiana General Assembly, and other state and federal agencies, on all capital projects and financing. Additionally, he held the position of adjunct assistant professor at the Eskenazi School of Art, Architecture and Design.
Under Morrison’s leadership, IU invested in and delivered nearly $3 billion to significant capital projects, including a $1.5 billion initiative aimed at campus renewal. His contributions to IU earned him the Bicentennial Medal in 2019, the President’s Medal for Excellence in 2021, and the Distinguished Service Medal in 2025. Upon his departure in 2025, Morrison received joint resolutions of commendation from the IU Board of Trustees, the Indiana House of Representatives, and the Indiana Senate. He was also awarded one of Indiana’s highest distinctions, the Sagamore of the Wabash, by Governor Mike Braun in May 2025.
Before joining Indiana University, Morrison held leadership positions at both Ball State University and the University of Virginia.
Morrison holds a doctorate in higher education administration from Ball State University, a master’s degree from the University of Maryland and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver.
