John Noonan, Vice President for Facilities

The Facilities Management department manages the operations and maintenance for campus facilities, landscape, and utilities; oversees project planning; coordinates design, renovation and construction for the overall operations of the University to ensure the ongoing safety, integrity, value and sustainability of Duke's world-class facilities.

John Noonan was appointed Vice President for Facilities effective July 1, 2011. John J. Noonan began at Duke University as Associate Vice President for Facilities in June 2005. He was formerly with Brown University for 13 years, most recently serving as Vice President for Facilities. Prior to his position at Brown, John held positions in consulting engineering and project management firms as well as in residential and commercial real estate development. He has worked in California, New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts.

His responsibilities at Duke University include the oversight of the campus buildings and landscape including a workforce of approximately 580 staff. Major functional areas include Planning, Design & Construction, Engineering, Utilities, Energy, Buildings & Landscape, Housekeeping, and Administration.

Mr. Noonan holds a Bachelors of Science Degree in Civil Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and a Masters Degree in Business Administration from Columbia University.
